Our Mission
Hazard Registry is an independent consumer safety intelligence platform. We exist to bridge a critical gap: the dangerous 0–24 hour window between when a government agency publishes a product recall and when the average American family actually understands what it means for them.
Government recall notices are written in dense regulatory language designed for compliance officers — not parents, not homeowners, not everyday people. By the time a recall reaches the evening news, it has often been stripped of the specific model numbers, serial ranges, and actionable steps that consumers need to protect themselves.
What We Do
Hazard Registry monitors official recall databases from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). When a Class 1 recall is issued — the most severe category, indicating a reasonable probability of serious injury or death — our system:
- Captures the raw government data within hours of publication
- Translates the technical jargon into clear, 8th-grade reading level safety guides
- Calculates a Sentinel Severity Score (1-10) based on reported injuries, deaths, and hazard type
- Generates a step-by-step Action Plan: 🛑 STOP → 📸 DOCUMENT → 📞 ACT
- Publishes the complete guide with affected model numbers, serial ranges, and manufacturer contact information
Our “Utility-First” Philosophy
We believe that consumer safety information should be a utility — as accessible and straightforward as checking the weather. Every recall guide on Hazard Registry is written with one goal: a concerned parent or homeowner should be able to read it, understand the danger, check their product, and take action in under 5 minutes.
We do not use clickbait. We do not bury critical information behind paywalls. We do not sensationalize. We present facts from official government sources, translated into plain English.
Independence Statement
Hazard Registry is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the CPSC, NHTSA, FDA, or any government entity. We are an independent consumer advocacy platform. All recall data published on this site is sourced from publicly available government databases. We always link to the original official recall notice so you can verify the information yourself.
The Scanner Tool
Our built-in barcode and serial number scanner allows you to check your household products against active recalls instantly. The scanner runs 100% on your device — your camera feed never leaves your phone or computer. No images are transmitted to our servers. This is a deliberate privacy-by-design decision: your home is your business.
Legal Rights Assessment
For Class 1 recalls involving life-threatening hazards, we provide a free Legal Rights Assessment form that connects affected consumers with independent, licensed attorneys who specialize in product liability. Submitting this form does not create an attorney-client relationship. It is a free, no-obligation evaluation of whether you may be entitled to compensation for injuries or property damage.
