URGENT RECALL: Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dresser

The Hazard

TIP-OVER AND ENTRAPMENT

Walmart is recalling Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers because they can tip over if not secured to the wall. This poses a serious risk of injury or death to children from tip-over and entrapment. The dressers don’t meet the safety standards for clothing storage units.

About 165,000 units affected. No injuries have been reported.

Technical Breakdown

These dressers are unstable if they aren’t attached to a wall. Kids can climb on them, causing the dresser to fall over. This can lead to them being trapped underneath, which could cause serious injuries or even death. This product does not meet the safety standards required by law, specifically the STURDY Act, which aims to prevent furniture tip-overs.
