URGENT RECALL: Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Set

The Hazard

CHOKING, CHEMICAL BURN

Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Sets are being recalled because they have a dangerous flaw. The battery compartment on the rackets isn’t secure, and the small button batteries inside the shuttlecock can be easily taken out by kids. If a child swallows these batteries, it can cause serious injuries, including chemical burns inside their body, and even death.

About 2,016 units affected. No injuries reported.

Technical Breakdown

The Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Set is being recalled because it doesn’t meet safety standards for toys. The screw that’s supposed to keep the battery compartment closed can come loose when opened. This means kids could easily get to the button batteries inside. The shuttlecock also contains easily accessible button cell batteries.

Button batteries are extremely dangerous if swallowed. They can cause severe internal burns in just a couple of hours. This recall aims to prevent children from accessing and swallowing these batteries, thus avoiding serious injury or death. There have been no reported injuries related to this defect.
