URGENT RECALL: Giantex Outdoor Lounge Chairs

The Hazard

AMPUTATION

Giantex is recalling its outdoor lounge chairs because they can cause serious finger injuries. When you adjust the chair, there’s a spot where your fingers can get pinched. This can lead to amputation, which means losing a finger. Stop using the chairs immediately to prevent injury.

Giantex has received one report of a consumer’s finger being amputated while adjusting the lounge chair. About 1,155 units are affected.

Technical Breakdown

The lounge chairs have a design flaw in their adjustable locking system. When users try to change the position of the chair’s backrest, their fingers can get caught in a pinch point. This pinch point is located within the chair’s mechanism and can exert enough force to cause severe injuries, including amputation. The adjustable locking system has a five-position design, allowing users to adjust the backrest height from 13.5 inches to 26.5 inches.
