Technical Breakdown
The Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Games are being recalled because they have small, powerful magnets that are dangerous if swallowed. These magnets are small enough to fit in a child’s mouth. If a child swallows more than one magnet, or a magnet and another metal object, the magnets can attract each other inside the body.
This attraction can cause the walls of the stomach or intestines to pinch together, leading to holes (perforations), twisting, and blockages. These internal injuries require immediate medical attention and can be fatal. The magnets in these games are stronger than what is allowed by safety regulations for toys, making them an especially high risk to young children.
