URGENT RECALL: Vasicar 18-Drawer Dressers

The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: TIP-OVER AND ENTRAPMENT

Vasicar 18-Drawer Dressers are being recalled because they can tip over if not secured to a wall. This poses a serious risk of injury or death, especially to children. The dressers do not meet safety standards for clothing storage units. Stop using these dressers immediately if they are not properly anchored.

About 4,155 units are affected. No injuries have been reported.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The Vasicar 18-Drawer Dressers are unstable. They can easily tip over, especially if a child climbs on them or opens multiple drawers at once. This is because the dressers are top-heavy and lack a stable base. If a dresser tips over, a child could be trapped underneath, leading to serious injuries or even death.

The problem is made worse because the dressers do not meet the safety rules set by the STURDY Act. This law requires clothing storage units to be stable and prevent tip-overs. Because these dressers don’t meet these standards, they are considered dangerous and are being recalled to protect consumers.
