The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: FIRE AND BURN

Curtis International is recalling Frigidaire-brand minifridges. The minifridges can short circuit. This can cause the plastic housing to catch fire. This poses a fire and burn risk to consumers.

Curtis International has received at least six reports of the model EFMIS121 minifridges catching fire, with property damages.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The recalled minifridges have a problem with their internal electrical parts. These parts can fail and create a short circuit. A short circuit happens when electricity flows in the wrong direction, creating too much heat. This heat can then ignite the plastic parts around the electrical components. Because the minifridge is made of flammable materials, a fire can quickly start and spread. This poses a serious risk of fire and burns to anyone nearby.

The company has received reports of these minifridges catching fire. This shows that the electrical problem is real and can happen in people’s homes. The recall is meant to prevent more fires and injuries. If you own one of these minifridges, it’s important to stop using it right away and take part in the recall to get a refund.
