The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: TIP-OVER AND ENTRAPMENT

4our Kiddies is recalling their plastic tip restraint kits. The plastic parts can break or weaken over time. This can cause furniture to tip over, which could lead to serious injuries or death. Stop using these restraints immediately.

CPSC is aware of at least 150 incidents where consumers reported that the defective plastic tip restraint kits broke, including three reported tip-over incidents.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The 4our Kiddies tip restraint kits are meant to keep furniture from tipping over. They use plastic brackets and zip ties to attach furniture to the wall. However, the plastic used in these kits is not strong enough. Over time, the plastic can break down or snap. This makes the straps unreliable.

When the plastic fails, the furniture is no longer secured. Even a small bump or touch can cause the furniture to fall. This is especially dangerous for children and the elderly. They could be seriously injured or even killed if furniture tips over on them. The company’s product does not meet industry safety standards.
