Technical Breakdown
The magnetic stick figures are being recalled because they don’t meet the safety standards for toys. Specifically, the magnets are too small and can easily detach from the figures. When multiple high-powered magnets are ingested, they can attract each other inside the body, clamping onto tissues and causing severe damage.
This internal attraction can lead to perforations (holes), twisting of the intestines (volvulus), or complete blockage of the digestive system. These conditions require immediate surgery to correct, and if left untreated, can result in serious complications, including blood poisoning (sepsis) and potentially death. The danger is especially high for young children who are likely to put toys in their mouths.
