The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: CHOKING AND BATTERY INGESTION

Lifetime Brands is recalling BUILT LUUM Light Up Tumblers. The tumblers have a light-up feature powered by a button cell battery. The battery compartment can become loose, posing a choking hazard. If a child swallows the battery, it can cause serious internal injuries, burns, and even death.

About 75,700 tumblers are affected by this recall.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The BUILT LUUM tumblers are being recalled because the battery compartment at the bottom of the cup can come loose. This exposes the button cell battery inside. Small children might find the loose battery and put it in their mouth.

Button cell batteries are very dangerous if swallowed. They can cause chemical burns in the throat and stomach. This can lead to serious injury or even death. The company is recalling these tumblers to prevent children from getting hurt.
