The Hazard
SUFFOCATION AND FALL HAZARDS
HappyGira is recalling Sweetie Baby and Style Life Eleven baby loungers because they don’t meet safety standards for infant sleep products. Babies could fall out of the lounger, get trapped, or suffocate. These loungers are unsafe and pose a serious risk of injury or death to infants.
About 70 units affected. No injuries have been reported.
Technical Breakdown
The recalled baby loungers fail to meet the mandatory safety standards for infant sleep products. Specifically, the sides of the loungers are too short, which means they don’t properly secure the baby. This increases the risk of the baby falling out. Additionally, the opening at the foot of the lounger poses a hazard. A baby could potentially fall out of this opening or become trapped within the lounger.
These design flaws create dangerous situations for infants. If a baby falls, they could suffer injuries ranging from minor bumps and bruises to more serious head trauma or broken bones. The risk of entrapment and suffocation is even more alarming. If a baby becomes trapped in the lounger, their breathing could be restricted, leading to suffocation and, in the worst-case scenario, death. Because of these dangers, it is crucial to immediately stop using these recalled loungers.
