Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown
The Greatale self-feeding pillow is designed to hold a baby bottle in front of an infant. The problem is that the pillow keeps the bottle at a dangerous angle. It also prevents the baby from moving away from the bottle if they are having trouble. This can cause the baby to inhale milk or formula into their lungs. This is called aspiration. Aspiration can lead to suffocation, which is when a baby can’t breathe.
Because the pillow holds the bottle in a fixed position, the baby cannot control the flow of liquid. This increases the risk of aspiration and suffocation. The pillow’s design does not allow the baby to spit out excess liquid or turn their head away from the bottle if they are in distress. This creates a very dangerous situation for infants.
