STRANGULATION
SEGMART is recalling their 55″ mini round toddler trampolines because the accessory kits (hammock, punching bag, hand rings) pose a strangulation hazard to young children. Kids can get their necks tangled in the straps. This can lead to serious injury or even death. Stop using the recalled trampolines immediately.
The company has received one report of a child suffering a rope burn injury around their neck after becoming entangled in the hammock straps. Approximately 1,200 units are affected by this recall.
Technical Breakdown
The SEGMART mini trampolines came with accessory kits that included items like a hammock, punching bag, and hand rings. The straps on these accessories are too long and can easily wrap around a child’s neck. This creates a dangerous strangulation hazard, especially for very young children who may not be able to free themselves. The CPSC determined that the design of these accessories, combined with the trampoline’s intended use by toddlers, creates an unacceptable risk of serious injury or death.
