The Hazard
CHOKING, CHEMICAL BURN
These LED Finger Beam Lights are being recalled because they contain small button batteries that kids can easily get to. If swallowed, these batteries can cause serious injuries like burns inside the body, and can even be deadly. It’s super important to stop using these lights right away to keep kids safe.
About 14,400 units affected. No injuries have been reported yet.
Technical Breakdown
The problem is that the battery compartment on these toy lights isn’t secure enough. Kids can open it up and get to the small, round button batteries inside. These batteries are really dangerous if swallowed. They can get stuck in the throat or stomach and cause chemical burns in just a couple of hours. This can lead to serious health problems and, in rare cases, even death.
The lights also don’t meet the safety rules for toys, which are meant to prevent hazards like this. The company is recalling the lights to fix this problem and make sure kids are safe. The main concern is that the design allows easy access to the button batteries, posing a significant ingestion hazard to young children.
