URGENT RECALL: Lil’ Buddies Pet Laser Toys

The Hazard

CHOKING, BATTERY INGESTION

JC Sales is recalling Lil’ Buddies Pet Laser Toys because they pose a serious risk to kids. The toy contains button cell batteries. If a child swallows a button battery, it can cause serious internal injuries, burns, and even death. This toy does not meet the safety standards for products with button batteries, creating an unacceptable hazard.

About 51,160 units are affected. No injuries have been reported so far.

Technical Breakdown

The Lil’ Buddies Pet Laser Toys are being recalled due to a significant safety hazard related to button cell batteries. These small, coin-sized batteries are easily accessible in the toy. Children are prone to putting things in their mouths, and if a child were to ingest a button cell battery, it could lead to severe internal burns in as little as two hours. These burns can cause long-term damage to the esophagus and other internal organs, potentially resulting in death.

The product violates safety regulations because the battery compartment isn’t secure enough to prevent a child from easily accessing the batteries. This lack of security combined with the toy’s attractive design for children creates a high risk of battery ingestion and subsequent injury.
