URGENT RECALL: ATOYUS Children’s Activity Cubes

The Hazard

CHOKING

ATOYUS brand children’s wooden activity cubes are being recalled because they can break apart and create small parts that pose a serious choking hazard to young children. The xylophone screws and clock hands can come loose, and the mallet has spherical ends, both of which kids could choke on. This toy fails to meet safety standards for toys, putting your child at risk of injury or death.

About 70 units are affected. No injuries have been reported.

Technical Breakdown

The ATOYUS activity cubes are designed with several interactive elements, including a xylophone, clock, and bead maze. However, the screws holding the xylophone together can detach, creating small parts. Similarly, the clock hands are also prone to breaking off. These small parts present a significant choking hazard, especially for children under three who are likely to put objects in their mouths.

Furthermore, the mallet included with the activity cube has spherical ends. These spherical ends also violate safety regulations, as they can become lodged in a child’s throat, leading to choking. This recall emphasizes the importance of toy safety standards and the potential dangers associated with poorly designed or manufactured children’s products.
