The Hazard
ELECTRICAL SHOCK & ELECTROCUTION
Apex Gaming PCs is recalling Manik and Apex-branded ATX computer power supplies because they don’t have proper warning labels. If you open or take apart one of these power supplies, you could get a serious or deadly electrical shock. Stop using these power supplies immediately to avoid injury.
About 17,730 units were sold in the US, and 500 were sold in Canada. No injuries have been reported yet, but the risk is high if the power supplies are tampered with.
Technical Breakdown
The recalled power supplies lack a permanent warning label about the risk of electrical shock and electrocution. This means that if someone opens the power supply, they might not know about the dangers inside. Without a warning, people are more likely to accidentally touch something that could give them a dangerous or fatal shock. The power supplies were sold both inside gaming computers and separately, increasing the potential for exposure to this hazard.
