The Hazard

CHOKING

CBC Group is recalling Stephan Baby Boo Bunnie and Friends Children’s Toys. The water-filled cube inside the toy can break, posing a choking and laceration hazard to young children. Stop using the toy immediately and return it for a refund.

The company has received 20 reports of the toys’ cube cracking or breaking into small parts, including one report of a child swallowing sharp pieces. About 227,500 units were sold in the US, and 1,400 in Canada.

Technical Breakdown

The recall involves small plush animal toys with a removable, water-filled plastic cube designed to be chilled. The cube can crack or break, releasing small pieces. These small pieces present a serious choking hazard, especially for babies and toddlers who may put them in their mouths. Additionally, the broken plastic can have sharp edges, posing a risk of lacerations (cuts).
