URGENT RECALL: Thermos Stainless King and Sportsman Food Jars and Bottles

The Hazard

IMPACT INJURY AND LACERATION

Thermos is recalling about 8.2 million Stainless King and Sportsman food jars and bottles. The stopper (lid) on these containers can shoot off with force when opened, potentially causing serious injuries, including cuts and eye damage. Stop using these recalled products immediately!

Thermos has received 27 reports of stoppers forcefully ejecting. Three consumers suffered permanent vision loss.

Technical Breakdown

Thermos discovered this issue after receiving numerous reports of incidents. People were hit by the stoppers, causing cuts (lacerations) and, in some very serious cases, permanent vision loss because they were struck in the eye. The company has worked with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue this recall and keep customers safe.
