The Hazard
ENTRAPMENT, FALL, TIP-OVER
Wiifo is recalling their children’s tower stools because they can collapse or tip over when a child is using them. Also, a child’s body can fit through openings on the sides of the tower. This creates a high risk of serious injury, entrapment, or even death from falls and tip-overs. Stop using these stools immediately.
About 9,700 units are affected. There have been 22 reports of the stools collapsing, resulting in six injuries including contusions and scrapes.
Technical Breakdown
The Wiifo children’s tower stools are being recalled due to a critical safety flaw in their design and construction. The stools are not sturdy enough and can collapse under a child’s weight during normal use. This sudden collapse can cause the child to fall and suffer injuries.
Furthermore, the openings on the sides of the tower pose an entrapment hazard. If the stool tips over or the child loses balance, their torso could become lodged in these openings, potentially leading to serious injury or even suffocation. The combination of these two hazards makes the product unsafe for children.
