BISSELL is recalling over one million Steam Shot OmniReach steam cleaners because hot water or steam can unexpectedly escape from the attachments. This can cause serious burns to users. Stop using the steam cleaner immediately if it is part of the recall. Check the model number to see if your unit is affected.
BISSELL has received 206 reports of hot water or steam escaping from the steam cleaners, including 161 reports of burn injuries, with one report of a second-degree burn. About 1.7 million units are affected in the US, and 96,000 were sold in Canada.
Technical Breakdown
The problem with these steam cleaners is that the attachments can detach unexpectedly during use, causing a sudden release of hot water and steam. This is due to a manufacturing defect or design flaw that doesn’t properly secure the attachments to the main unit. When the steam cleaner is pressurized, the faulty connection can fail, leading to a dangerous situation for the user.
