The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: FALL HAZARD

Specialized is recalling Turbo Como SL electric bicycles. The fork on these bikes can break. This can cause the rider to fall and get seriously hurt or die. Stop using these bikes immediately.

Specialized has received one report of a steerer tube failing and breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The problem is with the fork, which is the part that holds the front wheel. Specifically, the steerer tube within the fork can fail and break. This is a critical component, and its failure can lead to a sudden loss of control of the bicycle. When the steerer tube breaks, the front wheel can detach or become unstable, causing the rider to lose balance.
