The Hazard
BURN
Seasonal Specialties has recalled the Member’s Mark 7′ Pre-Lit Twinkling Buck due to a potential burn hazard. If the wires inside the buck are connected the wrong way, a part called the current limiting resistor can get too hot. This could cause a fire or burn someone. Stop using the buck immediately and contact the company for a refund or repair kit.
The firm has received five reports of smoke and a burning smell. Approximately 2,460 units were sold.
Technical Breakdown
The recall involves the 7-foot Pre-Lit Twinkling Buck sold under the Member’s Mark brand name. It has warm white LED lights and a control box. The problem is that the wires inside the buck might be connected incorrectly during manufacturing. This incorrect wiring can cause the current limiting resistor to overheat.
When the resistor overheats, it can melt nearby parts or even start a fire. This poses a burn hazard to anyone near the buck, especially if they touch it while it’s overheating. It can also cause smoke or a burning smell. Seasonal Specialties is offering a full refund or a repair kit to fix the issue.
