The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: FIRE HAZARD

iFIT is recalling NordicTrack Rowing Machines. The screen console can overheat. This can cause a fire. Stop using the rowing machine immediately.

There have been eight reported incidents including two reports of fire, six reports of smoking or melting, and at least $6,000 in property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The rowing machine’s screen console can overheat. This overheating can cause the console to ignite. This poses a fire hazard to consumers. The problem seems to stem from a flaw in the console’s electrical components, causing them to draw too much power and generate excessive heat.

This overheating issue can lead to smoking, melting, or even a full-blown fire. The risk is significant enough that iFIT is offering a free repair. This repair involves replacing the screen console with a new one.
