URGENT RECALL: RH Byron Dining Tables and Desks

The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: INJURY

RH is recalling Byron dining tables and desks due to a potential injury hazard. The table or desk can break at the leg attachment point. This can cause the tabletop to detach and fall. This poses a risk of injury to anyone nearby.

Unknown

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The recall is happening because the way the legs are attached to the tabletop isn’t strong enough. Over time, or with regular use, the connection between the legs and the tabletop can weaken. This is especially true for heavier marble or travertine tabletops. The problem is made worse by the design of the table, which puts a lot of stress on the leg attachments.

When the connection fails, the tabletop can suddenly detach from the legs. This can happen without warning, causing the heavy tabletop to fall. Anyone standing or sitting near the table when this happens could be hit by the falling tabletop and get hurt. This is why it’s important to check if your table is part of the recall and take action to prevent an accident.
