URGENT RECALL: Patoolio Direct Electric Pressure Washers

The Hazard

ELECTROCUTION

Patoolio Direct is recalling their electric pressure washers because they can give you a serious electric shock, which could lead to injury or even death. These pressure washers don’t have a special safety device called a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) that prevents electrical shocks. This means if something goes wrong inside the pressure washer, the electricity could flow through you if you’re touching it.

No injuries have been reported, but 2066 units are affected.

Technical Breakdown

The pressure washers are missing a critical safety feature: a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). A GFCI is designed to quickly cut off power if it detects an electrical fault, preventing electric shock. Without this, a short circuit or other electrical problem inside the pressure washer could send electricity through the user, especially if they are in contact with water or a grounded surface.

The lack of GFCI violates established safety standards for electrical appliances used near water. This poses a significant risk, as pressure washers are inherently used in wet environments, increasing the likelihood of electrical shock.
