The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: DROWNING

SereneLife Home is recalling above-ground pools that are 48 inches and taller. The pools have a strap that can be used as a foothold. This allows children to climb into the pool, even if the ladder is removed. This poses a serious drowning hazard.

About 80 pools are affected by this recall.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The recalled pools have a compression strap around the outside. This strap is meant to support the pool’s structure. However, it creates a ledge or foothold. Children can use this foothold to climb into the pool. Even if the pool ladder is removed, children can still access the water. This increases the risk of drowning.

Children are naturally curious and may try to climb into the pool unsupervised. The foothold makes it easier for them to do so. Drowning is a leading cause of death for young children. This recall aims to prevent potential tragedies by removing these hazardous pools from use.
