The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: DROWNING

Sunneday and Blue Bay above-ground pools are being recalled. The pools have a strap that can be used as a foothold. This allows children to climb into the pool, even if the ladder is removed. This creates a drowning hazard.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

These pools have a compression strap around the outside. This strap is meant to help support the pool walls. However, the strap can also act like a step. Children may be able to use this strap to climb into the pool without using the ladder.

Even if the pool ladder is removed, a child could still use the strap to get into the pool. This is very dangerous because children can drown if they are not supervised in the water. The company is recalling these pools to prevent accidental drownings.
