URGENT RECALL: Umeyda Children’s Nightgowns

The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: BURN HAZARD

Umeyda is recalling children’s nightgowns. These nightgowns do not meet safety standards for children’s sleepwear. This means they catch fire too easily, posing a serious burn risk to children. Stop using these nightgowns immediately.

About 200 nightgowns are affected.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The Umeyda nightgowns are being recalled because they don’t meet federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear. These standards are in place to protect kids from burn injuries. Children’s sleepwear must be made of flame-resistant fabric or fit very snugly to the body to prevent easy ignition.

The recalled nightgowns are made of 100% cotton and have a loose fit. This combination makes them highly flammable. If exposed to a small flame, like from a stove or candle, the nightgown can quickly catch fire and spread rapidly, leading to severe burns.
