The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: LACERATION

STIHL is recalling BR 800 Magnum backpack blowers. The fan wheel inside the blower can break. This can cause a laceration hazard. Stop using the blower immediately.

About 47,800 units are affected.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The fan wheel in the STIHL BR 800 backpack blower can break apart during use. This is because the fan wheel material may not be strong enough to handle the forces when the blower is running at high speeds. If the fan wheel breaks, pieces can fly out of the blower.

These flying pieces can hit the user or bystanders. This poses a risk of cuts or other injuries. The recall is to replace the fan wheel with a stronger one. This will prevent it from breaking and causing injury.
