The Hazard
CLASS 1 WARNING: DROWNING HAZARD
Werner Paddles has recalled their Stealth and Covert kayak paddles. The paddles can break while you are using them. This can cause you to fall into the water and possibly drown.
Werner Paddles has received 80 reports of the paddles breaking during use.
Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown
If a paddle breaks while someone is kayaking, it can be very dangerous. The kayaker could lose their balance and fall into the water. In cold water, this could quickly lead to hypothermia. Even in warmer water, a broken paddle makes it difficult to steer or paddle back to shore. This significantly increases the risk of drowning.
