The Hazard
CLASS 1 WARNING: FIRE AND BURN HAZARDS
Kroger is recalling Halloween-themed Skeleton Wax Candles. The candle has flammable decorations. This can cause a fire or burn someone. Stop using the candle immediately.
About 3,680 candles are affected. No injuries have been reported.
Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown
The Halloween candle has skeleton and pumpkin decorations. These decorations and the plastic container itself can catch fire. The candle’s warning label is even misspelled, saying “WANING” instead of “WARNING,” showing a lack of quality control.
When the candle burns, the flame can spread to the decorations. This can cause a larger fire than intended. The melting plastic can also cause burns if touched. This poses a serious risk to consumers.
