Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown
The recalled pajama sets fail to meet federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear. These standards are in place to reduce the risk of burns from clothing catching fire. Children’s sleepwear must be made of flame-resistant fabric or fit very snugly to the body to prevent easy ignition.
The Andy & Evan pajama sets do not meet these requirements. The fabric used is not sufficiently flame-resistant, and the design (long-sleeved shirt and flared pants) does not provide a snug fit. This combination creates a dangerous situation where the pajamas can quickly ignite and burn, potentially causing serious injuries or even death to a child.
