The recalled mattresses fail to meet the mandatory federal flammability standard for mattresses. This standard is in place to ensure that mattresses resist catching fire and spreading flames quickly, giving people time to escape a fire. Mattresses that don’t meet this standard can ignite more easily from a small flame, like a lighter or a cigarette.
Because these mattresses don’t have the required flame resistance, a fire could spread rapidly. This could lead to serious injuries, death, and significant property damage. The lack of proper fire protection makes these mattresses unsafe for consumers.
