URGENT RECALL: Hepo Adult Portable Bed Rails

The Hazard

ENTRAPMENT, ASPHYXIATION, FALL, LACERATION

Hepo is recalling their adult portable bed rails because they can trap you between the rail and the mattress, which could lead to serious injury or even death by suffocation. The bed rails also don’t meet safety standards for staying in place, so you could fall. Plus, the pins used to put the rail together are the wrong size and could cut you. These bed rails also don’t have the necessary warning labels to keep you safe.

About 2,200 units are affected. No injuries have been reported.

Technical Breakdown

The Hepo adult portable bed rails are being recalled because they don’t meet important safety rules. Specifically, the design of the rail creates a gap where a person could get stuck between the rail and the mattress. This is a very dangerous situation because it can cut off someone’s breathing and lead to asphyxiation (suffocation). This violates the mandatory safety standard for adult portable bed rails.
