Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown
The Ocun Condor HMS Triple Carabiners are being recalled because the gate may fail to close properly. Carabiners are designed with a spring-loaded gate that automatically snaps shut. This ensures a secure connection in climbing and rappelling activities. When the gate doesn’t close automatically, it requires the user to manually close it, which can be easily overlooked, especially in stressful situations.
If the carabiner gate is not fully closed, the rope or harness can slip out. This can happen during climbing, belaying, or rappelling. A failure of this kind can lead to a climber falling. Because climbing involves heights, a fall can cause serious injuries or even death.
