The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: FALL AND LACERATION HAZARD

Pedego is recalling Fat Tire Trikes. The frame can crack near a weld. This can cause the frame to break apart. This poses a fall and laceration hazard to the rider.

Pedego has received 16 reports of the trike frame breaking, including one report of a laceration to the leg.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

The Fat Tire Trike’s frame can develop a hairline fracture. This fracture happens near a weld on the frame. Over time, this small crack can grow. Eventually, the tubes of the frame can separate completely. This separation can happen while someone is riding the trike.

If the frame breaks while riding, the rider could fall. A fall from the trike could cause injuries. In one reported case, a person suffered a laceration to their leg when the frame broke. This recall aims to prevent further injuries from this frame defect.
