The Hazard
ENTRAPMENT AND ASPHYXIATION
Svnntaa bed rails are being recalled because they can trap adults, leading to serious injury or death by suffocation. The bed rails don’t meet safety standards and can also cause falls or cuts. Stop using them immediately to avoid potential harm.
About 4,200 units are affected. No injuries have been reported to date.
Technical Breakdown
These bed rails fail to meet the required safety standards for adult portable bed rails. Specifically, people can get stuck within the bed rail itself or between the rail and the mattress, which can cut off their breathing. This creates a very dangerous situation where someone could suffocate.
Additionally, the bed rails are not structurally stable and the retention strap may fail, increasing the risk of falls. The design of the push pins and holes also presents a laceration risk, meaning they could cut or puncture the skin. These issues combined make the bed rails unsafe for use.
