Technical Breakdown
These pressure washers don’t have a GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupter). A GFCI is a device that quickly shuts off an electrical circuit when it detects a ground fault, which is when electricity leaks out of the intended path. Without a GFCI, if the pressure washer has a problem, like damaged wiring or water getting inside, the electricity could flow through you if you touch it, causing a severe electric shock.
Pressure washers use water and electricity together, which makes them particularly risky if they don’t have proper safety features.
