URGENT RECALL: ANNQUAN Power Strips

The Hazard

CLASS 1 WARNING: FIRE

ANNQUAN power strips are being recalled. They can cause a fire if too many things are plugged in. This is because they don’t have a special safety feature to stop overloading. A fire could lead to serious injuries or even death.

There have been seven reports of the power strips blowing a fuse. No fires or injuries have been reported.

Why This Happens: Technical Breakdown

These power strips are missing a key safety feature. This feature is called “supplementary overcurrent protection.” It’s like a circuit breaker. Without it, if you plug in too many devices, the power strip can get overloaded. Overloading means too much electricity is trying to flow through the wires.

When a power strip is overloaded, the wires can get very hot. This heat can melt the plastic and other parts inside the power strip. If it gets hot enough, it can start a fire. This fire can spread to other things nearby, like curtains or furniture.
